Chaudhary, Pandey co-convenors of ICC advisory committee to resolve Nepal cricket crisis

KATHMANDU: International Cricket Council's advisory committee on Tuesday appointed industrialist Basanta Kumar Chaudhary* and Cricket Association of Nepal's former president Binay Raj Pandey its co-convenors to prepare a roadmap and resolve the crisis in Nepali cricket.

The advisory committee has been told  to prepare the Cricket Association of Nepal's new constitution and elect its new leadership by July.

In April, the ICC had suspended CAN after Nepal's National Sports Council (NSC) stepped in and formed an ad-hoc committee to run the Nepali cricket body after Chatur Bahadur Chand was elected CAN's president through a controversial annual general meeting. The ICC has been managing the Nepal national cricket team on its own since CAN's suspension.

The ICC Advisory Committee had held its first meeting in Kathmandu today, two months after its formation.

Associate Member Director at ICC Imran Khwaja and Finance Manager Amar Sheikh were in Kathmandu to hold the meeting.

Former skipper Pawan Agrawal has been appointed the advisory committee's secretary and Nepal Sports Council's press advisor Rohit Dahal its spokesperson.

Former CAN acting president Deepak Koirala and Joint secretary at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Chudamani Paudel are the members in the committee.

Ashok Nath Pyakurel*, who was earlier elected as the CAN general Secretary, however, denied to be a part of the committee.
