Chauraha edge past Attariya in Super Over

Chauraha won the title of the Sagarmatha Cement Dhangadhi Cricket League-3 by beating Attariya in Super over here today.
In an exciting final match, the two teams were tied at 146 runs in 20 overs. In Super Over, Attariya scored just three runs before Chauraha overcame the total in just two balls, with Bhuwan Karki hitting a boundary in the second delivery. With the trophy, Chauraha received Rs 300,000, while Attariya got Rs 150,000.
Earlier, Chauraha scored 146-9 in 20 overs before Attariya tied the scores in the last ball of the innings. Surendra Chand struck a twin blow in the fourth over when he dismissed Chauraha openers Padak KC (seven) and Sonu Tamang (10) in two balls, before Yogendra Singh Karki and Dipendra Thapa added 59 runs for the third wicket. Karki scored a quick fire 26 off just 13 balls that included four boundaries and a six, while Thapa was dismissed for 40-ball 37 with the help of five fours and a six.
Bipin Rawal scored 20 and Sandeep Jora scored 11 as Chauraha lost six wickets for 45 runs in 6.2 overs. Surendra Chand was the pick of the Attariya bowlers taking 4-20, while Prem Tamang claimed two wickets.
In reply, Attariya got off to a flying start with openers Sailesh Kadayat and Prem Tamang scoring 67 runs in 10 overs before the former was out for seven runs. Tamang then added 47 runs for the second wicket with skipper Mehboob Alam to take the score to 114 runs in 14 overs before both the batsmen fell without adding a run. One run later, Attariya lost two more wickets to be 115-5 and they came under pressure after two more wickets fell at 119.
Man-of-the-match Tamang scored 63 off 54 balls that included seven fours and three sixes, while the former national team opener Alam struck three boundaries and as many sixes in his fiery 13-ball 33. No 7 batsman Naresh Bohara added 21 runs for the eighth wicket with Hikmat Shetty to take the score to 140 before the latter fell for four runs. Attariya needed seven runs from the last eight balls but they managed six after Nabin Bhandari was run out in the last ball of the innings. Bohara remained unbeaten on 17 off 16 balls that included two fours and a six.
Bhuwan Karki, who hit the winning boundary in Super Over, took 2-13, while Aman Panthi, who struck twice in the 16th over, claimed 2-34. Skipper Sonu Tamang and Yogendra Singh Karki took one wicket each for Chauraha. Santosh Bhatta of Campus Road was adjudged the player of the tournament and received Rs 50,000. In all, five teams took part in the tournament organised by Dhangadhi Cricket Academy.
