Chitrakar wins title

KATHMANDU: Gopal Chitrakar accumulated 39 points to win the title of the Ballantine’s Open Golf Tournament here at the Royal Nepal Golf Club on Saturday. The seven-handicap amateur golfer scored 21 points on the front nine and added 18 on the latter half in the first of the three-match series. SSP Rajendra Shrestha finished runner-up with 35 points. Tashi Ghale won the gross section trophy with 35 points, while Hari Bahadur Shrestha claimed the senior category title with 34 points. Pratima Sherpa won the women’s section trophy with 28 points, while Rekha Ghimire came second with 26 points. Other winners of the tournament included Tashi Ghale (most birdies), Prabin Rana (longest drive) and Karma Wangdi Ghale (closest-to-the-pin). RNGC President Rabindra Man Shrestha, Vice-president Tashi Ghale, Captain Narendra Kumar Rai and Country Manager of Pernod Ricard Indian Pvt Ltd Ravinder Saini handed over the prizes to the winners.
