Chyasal crowned league champions
Lalitpur, October 5
All Nepal Football Association handed over the Martyrs Memorial B Division League trophy to Chyasal Youth Club after the tournament ended here at the ANFA Complex today.
Chyasal also earned promotion to the A Division along with New Road Team. Chyasal finished as the league champions on superior goal differences to NRT after they were tied on 28 points. Champions Chyasal received Rs 500,000 along with trophy, while NRT earned Rs 250,000. Likewise, Ranipokhari Corner Team and Satdobato Youth Club finished the league on third and fourth positions among the 14 participating teams and got Rs 150,000 and Rs 75,000 respectively.
Chyasal also dominated the individual prizes. Chetan Kumar Tharu was adjudged the best defender, while Raja Babu Thapa won the best goalkeeper’s award and Chet Narayan Shrestha was named the best coach of the league. Khumaltar Youth Club’s Suraj Raut received the award of best forward. Raut and Samajik Youth Club’s Bhuwan Basnet were the joint highest goal scorers with 10 goals each. Sushil Lama of NRT became the best midfielder. The individual award winners got Rs 25,000 each.
Meanwhile, in the last match of the day, Samajik, who were already relegated along with Mahabir Club, beat Madhyapur Youth Association 4-3 riding on Bhuwan Basnet’s hat-trick.
National Sports Council Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista, ANFA Acting President Narendra Shrestha and Vice-president Karma Tshiring Sherpa among others handed over the prizes to the winners.
