KATHMANDU: Lalitpur District Saving and Credit Cooperative Association and Tamrakar Society of Lalitpur are organising the Shiwani Air fourth Kamana Sahakari Cup Chess Tournament from Saturday to mark the 59th National Cooperative Day. A total of 80 players will take part in the tournament which will be played under league-cum-knockout format, informed the organisers at a press meet on Friday. The winner in men’s section will receive a Yamaha motorcycle worth Rs 172,900, while the runner-up will earn Rs 50,000. The third and fourth placed players will get Rs 30,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively. The Super League winner will earn Rs 25,000, while others in top 20 will also get their share of cash prizes with players from 16-20 positions earning Rs 5,000 each. In women’s section, best 10 players will get cash prizes with top three receiving Rs 10,000, Rs 8,000 and Rs 7,000 respectively. Likewise, the winners in U-19, 1800-2000 rated, best local player and veteran sections will also receive cash prizes.
