Corporate games : Stuti Maskey enters final

Kathmandu, February 28:

Stuti Maskey of APCA Nepal entered the ladies’ singles final in badminton at the first National Corporate Games.

Maskey cruised through with a convincing 21-8, 21-6 win over Ishwori Pradhan of New Business Age. Another APCA House player Bandana Shrestha, however, lost her semi-final match against Twinkle Khetan of Laxmi Bank 14-21, 11-21. In the men’s doubles badminton, the pair of Purna Singh Khatri and Krishna Pokharel of APCA House made it to the last four. Anuj Arora, also of APCA Nepal, crashed out of the Lawn Tennis semi-finals.

After winning the quarter-final tie 6-2, 6-2 against Yuvraj Thapa, exhuasted Arora was made to play the semi-finals against Himal Shah of Surya Nepal, who had a first-round bye, and lost in straight sets 0-6, 1-6. Shah will now play Kishor Bhattarai, who got a walkover win from Bala Gurung of Surya Nepal, in final. Himal Shah and Srikantha Dhungana of Surya Nepal entered the quarter-finals in the men’s singles badminton. Also advancing in the last eight were Radha Krishna Pokharel of Nabil Bank, Pravat Khatri of DHL, Toya Raj Adhikari of Machhapuchhre, Santosh Bhattarai of Everest Bank, Ranjit Acharya of Prisma and Kishor Bhattarai of New Business Age.

In six-a-side football, Buddha Air, Roots Fashion, New Business Age and Bottlers Nepal advanced to the semi-finals. Buddha Air defeated DHL 4-0, Roots Fashion beat Nabil Bank 4-1, Bottlers Nepal overcame Machhapuchhre Bank 5-4 in tiebreaker while New Business Age was declared the winner after LIC was found to have fielded outsiders in their team.

Bottlers Nepal and New Business Age advanced to the Tug of War final.
