Cricketers seek budget for Mulpani

Kathmandu, October 16

Players, officials, umpires and coaches on Sunday handed over a memorandum to Minister for Youth and Sports Daljit Sripali demanding the budget of Rs 1.6 million for the final phase construction of the Mulpani Cricket Stadium.

The 16-member team requested the minister to allocate the budget for the final phase of the construction. “The upper ground is almost ready and it will be playable if we spend a small amount of money for finishing touch,” said the team in the memorandum.  “The cricketers can play there and also display their skills,” the letter added. Currently, Tribhuvan University Stadium is the only ground available for national and international tournaments. The construction of the stadium started in 2007 and the pavilion and grounds were finished three years later.

National team vice-captain Gyanendra Malla, Sharad Vesawkar, Subash Khakurel and Sompal Kami were joined by the NSC Member Sailesh Kumar Karmacharya, coaches Jagat Tamatta and Binod Kumar Das, umpires Binay Kumar Jha and Durganath Subedi, Cricket Association of Nepal Chief Operating Officer Chhumbi Lama, accountant Rajesh Maharjan, and Technical Analyst Raman Shiwakoti in the delegation.
