Daffodil, APF, NIMS triumph
Kathmandu, February 24:
Daffodil School defeated Niten Memorial School (NIMS) 54-37 in the boys’ section final of the Daffodil Cup first Inter-school Basketball Tournament here today.
Jiwan Bhattarai of NIMS top-scored in the match with 21 points but failed to save his team from defeat. Danger Rai netted 18 points for Daffodil. Sonam Chopel Sherpa of Daffodil was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, while Bhattarai was the highest scorer.
In girls’ section final, NIMS beat Valley Public School 25-14 with Mina Gautam scoring 16 points for the winners. Samita Tamang scored 10 points for Valley Public. Bina Nakarmi of NIMS was declared the MVP, while Merina KC of Valley Public was the highest scorer of the tournament.
Likewise, Nepal APF School routed New Summit School 5-1 to win the Daffodil Cup second Junior Football Tournament. Rupesh Nepali, Subash Ghising, Bibek Bohora, Bijay Sapkota and Sushant Rimal scored one goal apiece for APF, while Kumar Shahi netted the consolation goal for New Summit. Gagan Thapa of New Summit was named the best player of the tournament, while Pramish Bhujel of APF School won the best goalkeeper’s award.
