Dahal claims title

MORANG: Prince Dahal of Kathmandu won the men’s singles title of the International Invitational Open Badminton Tournament on Tuesday.

Dahal beat Praful Maharjan of Tribhuvan Army Club 21-13, 21-13 in final. Dahal had won the U-19 and U-15 titles of the President Cup Junior International Badminton last week in Biratnagar.

TAC duo Ratnajit Tamang and Anu Maya Rai won the mixed doubles title with a 21-19, 20-22, 21-16 victory over APF’s Dipesh Dhami and Puja Shrestha.

Likewise, Kiran Pradhan and Yogeshwor Shrestha beat Sanjay Bhaktaraj and KB Gurung 21-18, 21-17 in the veteran doubles final.

In men’s doubles semi-finals, Dipesh Dhami/Bijeet Thapa Magar of APF beat Praful Maharjan/ Rukesh Maharjan of TAC 21-17, 25-23, while Ratnajit Tamang/Nabin Shrestha of TAC defeated Gautam Kathayat/Sunil Joshi of APF 21-9, 21-12.
