KATHMANDU: DAV and New Summit College won the opening day matches of the University Cricket Cup here at the TU Stadium on Friday. DAV defeated Tribhuvan University ‘B’ by 54 runs and New Summit outplayed Bon College by six wickets. In the first match, DAV posted 166-5 in their allotted 20 overs before they restricted TU for 112-5. DAV’s Aadil Khan scored 58-ball 80 hitting eight boundaries and three sixes, while Birendra Singh Karki, who remained not out on 20-ball 28 hitting two fours and a six, was top scorer for TU. In the second match, batting first, Bon were bowled out for 86 runs in 17.2 overs and New Summit scored 87-4 in 10 overs. Bon’s Nyima Tsering scored 37 off 47 balls that included four boundaries and a six. New Summit won the match riding on Shubham Agrawal’s 17-ball 30 that included two each fours and sixes.
