Davydenko, Pavel enter final

Nikolay Davydenko of Russia defeated Jiri Novak of the Czech Republic 6-2, 6-2 in Friday’s semi-finals of the Hypo Group tennis tournament.

He’ll play the final against Romania’s Andrei Pavel, who advanced with a walkover when Luis Horna of Peru withdrew from due to injury.

Davydenko, the defending champion, broke Novak in the opening set to lead 4-2 before getting a scare in the next game when he twisted an ankle and needed massage. He recovered and broke again to take the first set, and cruised through the second to win in 1 hour, 8 minutes.
