Deepak takes 18-stroke lead over Ramesh

Deepak Acharya carded one-over 73 on the third day of the Kailash Tea Open Golf

Tournament for a 18-stroke lead over Ramesh Nagarkoti here at Gokarna Forest Golf Resort today. Nagarkoti shot one-over 73 on the third day for total of seven-over 223. After the third round, Deepak Thapa Magar, who carded two-over 74, was one stroke behind Nagarkoti, while GFGR pro Pashupati Sharma played a disastrous round of 13-over 85 for a total of 11-over 227. In amateurs’ section, Shiva Ram Shrestha carded 5-over 77 to take a two-stroke lead over three players. Overnight leader Krishnaman Shrestha shot nine-over 81, Deepak Neupane had 7-over 79, and C B Bhandari finished the third day at six-over 78 and shared the joint third spot at 233. Acharya, the GFGR teaching pro, had a one-over 37 in the front nine including a bogey in the second hole, a double bogey in the eighth hole and birdies in the third and ninth holes. Acharya, who carded personal best of seven-under on the first day and five-under on the second, shot a even-par 36 in the back nine.

Going into the final day, his nearest rival Ramesh Nagarkoti is 18-stroke behind. The winner of the four-day event will get a purse of Rs 45,000 and the runner-up will get Rs 23,000.
