Dhangadhi Team Chauaraha lift DPL title
KATHMANDU: Defending champion Dhangadhi Team Chauaraha have won the title of second edition of Ruslan Dhangadhi Premier League Twenty20 Cricket Tournament defeating Kathmandu Goldens by 21 runs in the summit clash on Friday.
At SSP grounds, put into bat first after winning the toss, Sompal Kami's Chauaraha scored a total of 181-4 in their allotted 20 overs and restricted national cricket team Vice-captain Gyanendra Malla-led Goldens to 160-8.
Champion Chauaraha bagged a purse of Rs 2.5 million whereas runner-up Goldens was rewarded with Rs one million.
Sunil Dhamala and Rohan Mustafa created a142-run partnership to help Chauraha post a respectable total. Opener Dhamala top-scored with 63-ball 78 that included eight boundaries and three sixes. Likewise, United Arab Emirates international Mustafa smashed 60 runs off 42 balls, cracking four sixes and four boundaries. However, rest of the batsmen failed to add the significant runs for the Champions. Opener Ashfaq Ahmed managed to make just four runs whereas Sonu Tamang and Rajesh Pulami were dismissed without making a single run. Captain Sompal Kami who remained unbeaten added eight runs for the winning side.
Goldens' Sushan Bhati bagged two wickets while Sunny Patel added another wicket.
Opener Amit Shrestha smashed 58 runs off 39 balls that included seven boundaries and three fours where as skipper Gyanendra Malla as Goldens' next best scorer as he made 27-ball 30. Likewise, Sunny Patel (22), Naresh Budayair (19) and Puspa Thapa (19) were other notable contributors.
Lalit Bhandari was pick of the Goldens bowlers as he took three wickets and man-of-the-match Mustafa added two wickets. Likewise, Samsad Sheikh and Yogendra Singh Karki claimed one wicket each.
