Double delight for APF, TAC

Nepal APF Club and Tribhuvan Army Club recorded double victories in the fourth NST-NVA Women’s and Men’s Volleyball Club Championship here at the National Sports Council covered hall today.
In the men’s section Group C match, APF defeated Budhanilkantha Volleyball Club 25-5, 25-15, 21-25, 25-20 in Group C match. Similarly, TAC saw off Dhorpatan Sports Club 25-15, 25-13, 25-13 in Group D. As the pool comprises only two teams, TAC advanced to the quarter-finals as group winners, while Dhorpatan made it to the last eight as runners-up.
In women’s category, APF recorded a 25-16, 27-25, 25-14 victory over Nepal Police Club in Group B match, while TAC thrashed Dhorpatan 25-20, 25-7, 25-6.
A total of 11 teams are competing in men’s section and they have been divided into four pools. Help Nepal Sports Club, Manimukunda Volleyball Club and Western Region are in Group A, while Group B is made up of NPC, Nayabazar Sports Club and Kavre District Volleyball Association.
Similarly, APF, Budhanilkantha and Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Centre are in Group C, while TAC and Dhorpatan are in Group D. Top two teams each from all four pools will make it to the quarter-finals after league round matches.
In women’s category, seven teams are in fray. They are divided into two groups. Shivam New Diamond Academy, Dhorpatan, Padmodaya Youth Club and TAC are in Group A, while Group B comprises of NPC, APF and Jawalakhel. After the league round matches, top two teams will advance to semi-finals.
Top three finishers in both categories will get Rs 150,000, Rs 100,000 and Rs 60,000 respectively, while the best players will get Rs 15,000 apiece. Earlier, NSC Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista inaugurated the tournament organised by Nepal Volleyball Association under the sponsorship of Nepal Satellite Telecom.
