Dhangadhi, January 6
Druk Star FC of Bhutan came from a goal down to thrash West Kathmandu Football Club 4-1 in the Far-west Khaptad Gold Cup at the Dhangadhi Stadium today.
Kyancho Tobge scored a hat-trick in Druk Star’s win, while Pemba Rai netted one goal. Skipper Samir Jung Karki scored the solitary goal for West Kathmandu. Karki put West Kathmandu ahead in the first half but Druk Star bounced back to net four goals after the interval.
Rai levelled the tally in the 56th minute and Druk Star took the lead after Tobge found the back of the nets in the 71st minute. Tobge extended the advantage in the 84th minute and completed his hat-trick in 89th minute.
Bhutan’s A division outfit, Druk Star coach Kota Namgenjan said the team strategy worked in the match, especially in the second half. West Kathmandu coach Sundar Thapa said the team lacked the services of some of his players.
“They were not available as they are playing in other tournaments. We lost the momentum after our glovesman conceded an unnecessary goal to level the scores,” he added.
On Saturday, Delhi United of India will play against Kathmandu-based Boys Union Club.
