Aims to raise three billion rupees for international cricket stadium
KATHMANDU, MARCH 01
Dhurmus Suntali Foundation today launched the 'My Stadium, My Seat' campaign to raise funds for the construction of the Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium in Chitawan.
The Foundation has been constructing an international-standard stadium in Bharatpur and it is facing financial crunch to continue the project.
The under-construction stadium has already hosted a couple of events and the Foundation is looking for options to get the budget to carry on the construction works, informed Foundation President Sitaram Kattel at the launch ceremony.
"We have completed around 85 per cent of works to prepare a ground and we are at around 30 per cent up in parapet construction.
We had raised Rs 320 million and we have so far spent more than Rs 430 million," said Kattel.
"We are already running in deficit of Rs 110 million."
Kattel said the idea of launching the new campaign was to raise enough money to complete the stadium. "The total estimated budget of the 30,000-capacity stadium is Rs 3.55 billion and we are aiming to raise three billion rupees from the campaign," he added.
As per the campaign, an individual, group or organisation can buy a seat for Rs 100,000. "We will inform about the process of getting the seat within a month."
