Eight athletes honoured with Dasharath Chand Award
Kathmandu, July 1
Martyr Dasharath Chand Memorial Trust honoured eight players with the Dasharath Chand Talent Award here today.
The trust awarded footballer Nawayug Shrestha of Eastern Region, volleyball player Pratibha Mali of Central, athlete Bipana Pariya of Western, cricketer Nery Thapa of Mid-west and Olympian taekwondo player Nisha Rawal of Far-west amidst a function organised to mark the 115th birth anniversary of Martyr Dasharath Chand.
Similarly, para-taekwondo player Sita Bhandari and para-athlete and cricketer Bikram Bahadur Rana were also awarded. The trust also honoured mountaineer Sanjay Pandit posthumously.
All eight individuals were rewarded with Rs 10,001 each along with the appreciation letters.
Former Prime Minister Lokendra Chand, National Sports Council Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista, Trust’s President Karna Bahadur Chand among others handed over the awards to the players.
