Eight fans arrested

LONDON: Eight football fans were arrested as hooligans went on the rampage at Manchester United's League Cup clash at Barnsley, police said on Wednesday. Violence broke out and food kiosks were ransacked as trouble flared at Oakwell, where visiting English champions United won 2-0 in the fourth round tie on Tuesday. Riot police were pelted with bottles as they battled to restore order in the north stand concourse and police dogs were used to drive fans back from the pitch.
