KATHMANDU: Elite Football Club defeated Pirates Football Club 5-4 on penalties in the opening match of the first Manohara Cup here at the Town Planning grounds on Saturday.

The match was decided in tie-breaker after both the teams were deadlocked at 1-1 draw in the regulation period.

Angbe Sherpa put Elite ahead in the 23rd minute before Florent Koyera levelled the scores for Pirates in the 61st minute.

A total of 20 teams are taking part in the tournament organised by ‘C’ Division outfit Manohara United Club.
