England on top

London, May 18:

Paul Collingwood made the most of his luck on Friday to hit his fourth Test hundred and lead England to 372-5 at tea on the second day of the first Test against the West Indies.

Collingwood hit 14 fous from 208 balls to put on 144 for the fourth wicket with Ian Bell, who was 59 not out at Lord’s with nine fours from 115 balls.

Collingwood was dropped twice and appeared lucky to survive an LBW appeal in the first session, but was more solid after lunch as the two batsman effectively took the match away from the West Indies.

He was bowled in the 107th over by Dwayne Bravo. The second session brought 92 runs for one wicket, adding to the 80 scored before lunch for the sole loss of Alastair Cook (105). Daren Powell had the best figures of 2-93.
