EPL: Pokhara Rhinos stroll to 10-wicket victory over Chitwan Tigers

KATHMANDU: The Pokhara Rhinos Pakistani all rounder Israrullah's all round performance with bat and ball propelled his team to clinch a 10-wicket triumph over Chitwan Tigers on Tuesday.

Pokhara Rhinos made a dream start of the Everest Premier League as they sealed an emphatic victory over Chitwan Tigers by 10-wicket and 14 ball to spare, at the TU Cricket Stadium in Kirtipur.

After winning the toss, Pokhara Rhinos skipper Shakti Prasad Gauchan, opted to field first in a seamer friendly track in the foggy morning.

Pokhara Rhinos manage to restrict the Chitwan Tigers for a meagre score of 113/9 in their allotted 20 overs.

Pakistani bowlers Taj Wali and Israrullah tormented the Chitwan Tigers top order as they shared seven wickets between them. Skipper Dipendra Singh Airee tried to resurrect their innings with 42 runs off 32 balls with six hits to the fence and a towering six over mid wicket.

Anil Kumar Mandal contributed 32 runs off 44 ball with three fours and a six.

However, other batsman lost the plot and failed to hit double digit scores.

Israrullah was the pick of the bowler as he claimed 4-0-22-4.

Taj Wali snared three important wickets of the opposition while seamer Bikram Sob chipped in with a wicket.

In reply, Pokhara Rhinos opening batsmen Israrullah and Sunil Dhamala thwarted Chitwan Tigers bowling attack with ease to achieve the target with 14 balls to spare.

He smashed 61 runs off just 52 deliveries with six towering sixes and a boundary. His opening partner Sunil Dhamala played sensibly for 46 runs off 54 balls with 3 fours and two sixes.

Chitwan Tigers bowlers failed to exert any pressure on the batsmen to play any false stroke.

However, Israrullah finished the game in style with a six off Shahab Alam's spin bowling over the bowler's head.

Pakistani all rounder Israrullah was adjudged as the man of the match for his all round performance.
