Far-west, APF thru to PM’s Cup final

Far-western Region and Nepal APF Club advanced to the final of the PM Cup National Women’s Cricket Tournament here at the DVM Global Academy in Itahari today.

In the day’s semi-final matches, Far-west thrashed Western Region by seven wickets, while APF defeated Eastern Region by seven runs.

Put into bat first, Western were bowled out for 89 runs in 19.2 overs before Far-west raced to victory in 17.4 overs with the loss of three wickets. Barsha Rana scored 27 off 34 balls with the help of two boundaries, while Saraswoti Pun contributed 13 off 24 balls hitting a boundary for Western. Kabita Joshi claimed three wickets and Rekha Rana took two wickets for Far-west.

In reply, Far-west reached the target riding on Rekha Rawal’s unbeaten 36 runs, while Kabita Joshi contributed 15 runs. Kriti Sen and Alisha KC took one wicket each for Western.

Similarly, APF scored 66-9 in 20 overs and packed Eastern for 59 runs in 19.2 overs. Karuna Bhandhari top scored for APF with 22 runs, while other batters failed to reach double figures. Eastern’s Sabnam Rai claimed three wickets and Rubina Chhetri took two wickets.

In reply, Eastern fell eight runs short of the victory target. Roma Thapa contributed 18 runs and Kajol Shrestha scored 14 runs. APF’s Sita Rana Magar pocketed three wickets and Ritu Kanojiya claimed two wickets.

The final match is slated for Wednesday. The winners and runners-up will get Rs 100,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively, while the best player will receive Rs 10,000. Similarly, the best batter and bowler will be awarded with Rs 5,000 each.
