First-ever Asian Games Fun Run today

Lalitpur, April 9

Olympic Council of Asia, in cooperation with Nepal Olympic Committee, is organising the Asian Games Fun Run here on Tuesday.

OCA Media Manager Jeans Zhou Jian informed that the event was being organised to promote Olympic Movement and 18th Asian Games slated for August 18 to September 2 in Indonesia. “We are organising the fun run to make public aware about the Asian Games. The event can be participated in by all people from all walks of life, including school children, athletes and members of sports associations,” said Jian at a press meet on Monday.

NOC President Jeevan Ram Shrestha said the event was being organised in Nepal for the first time to promote Asian Games and it was open for public, athletes, associations and departmental sides.

Event coordinator Ashok Bajracharya informed that around 1,400 participates would take part in the 6km event that will start from NOC building and goes through Lagankhel, Jawalakhel, Pulchowk and Sundhara before concluding on the NOC premises. Meanwhile, Wissam Trkmani, Secretary to the OCA President Ahmed Al-Fahad Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, read out the message sent by the chief of Asian governing body.

Jian handed over the collection of the Asian Games logos to NOC President Shrestha and Secretary General Lama Tendi Sherpa.

Similarly, 18th Asian Games Organising Committee's Media and Public Relations Vice-director Ratna Irsana handed over mascots of the Asiad to Shrestha.
