Five-a-side soccer title to Wilson & Co
Wilson and Co defeated Gyanodaya School 2-0 to lift the five-a-side football tournament organised here at the Jawalakhel Youth Club ground by Soccer Group, Lalitpur. Rajendra Shakya opened the account for Wilson in the seventh minute, while Suman Yonjan added the other goal in the 15th minute to seal the victory.
In the semi-final matches earlier, Gyanodaya defeated Jyoti Academy 3-0, while Wilson booked its place in the final beating Manang Youth 2-1.
In the quarter-final round, Gyanodaya School beat Himalayan Bank 4-0, Manang Youth defeated Nepal Automobiles Dealers’ Association, Jyoti Academy edged past Sports Journalists 2-1 and Wilson & Co thrashed Syakar Company 5-4 in tie-breaker after both teams were locked at 1-1 in the regulation 30-minute and extra 10-minute. Jason Bingham of Gyanodaya School was declared the man of the match.
JYC president Kishor KC, convenor of the organising committee Mahesh Rana, JYC advisor Pradip SJB Rana, director general of Fishtail Air Bikash Rana, general secretary of All Nepal Football Association Lok Bahadur Shahi and ANFA president Ganesh Thapa gave away prizes to the volunteers, umpires, participants and winners.
