Garifa Sporting Club Kolkata edge Jagriti Club, meet Manang in semis

KATHMANDU: The Garifa Sporting Club Kolkata romped to narrow victory over the host Rastriya Jagriti Club and advanced into semi-finals of the ongoing Madan Bhandari Memorial Itahari Gold Cup held in Itahari of Sunsari district on Tuesday.

Kolkata's Chise Solace scored as early as on the 2nd minute of the game much to dismay of the local crowd who had thronged Itahari Stadium to support their team.

Solace solitary goal was enough for the visiting team to propel into the last four of the tournament.

Pravesh Danuwar of Rastriya Jagriti Club was declared man of the match award despite in loosing cause. He collected Rs 10,000.

With today's victory, Garifa Sporting Club will vie Manang Marsyangdi Club in semi-final on Thursday for a place in the final of the tournament.

Similarly, Tribhuvan Army Club will take on Three Star in first semi final on Wednesday.

A total of 10 teams including one Bhutanese and Indian are contesting in the tournament.

The winner of the tournament will bag a purse of Rs 1.2 million and runner up will receive Rs 0.6 million along with medals and trophies.
