Ghale named golf skipper for Asiad
Kathmandu, September 26 :
The newly formed Nepal Golf Association (NGA) announced the four-member team led by Tashi Ghale for the participation at the 15th Asian Games to be held in Doha in December.
Two days after the National Sports Council (NSC) formed the nine-member NGA under the presidentship of Pradeep Kumar Shrestha, the ad hoc committee announced its future programmes to ensure the golfers’ participation in the international events.
Four others members — Rabindra Shrestha (second vice-president), Sastika Shrestha, Deepak Acharya and Dr Biru Rana — were also included in the NGA on Tuesday. The association is planning to send the Nepali golfers in SAARC Golf Tournament, Asia Pacific Golf Tournament, Bangladesh Amateur Open (Dhaka), Indian Open (New Delhi) and Bhutan Amateur Open.
“We will try to bring as many programmes as possible,” the NGA president Shrestha said. He also added that the association would work in promoting Nepal as the golf tourism destination.
The NGA also announced to organise the Nepal Amateur Invitational Golf Tournament in November. “We are expecting golfers from 30 countries,” Shrestha said. Other annual programmes of the NGA include inter-club tournament, women’s and junior golf tournament.
