Ghale wins golf title
Kathmandu, September 30
Tashi Ghale won the title of the Nepal-China-India Summit Golf Tournament here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.
Played under stableford 3/4 handicap format, the one-handicap amateur player Ghale accumulated 38 points to win the trophy of the tournament organised on the sidelines of the Nepal-China-India Business Summit under the sponsorship of Invest Nepal Pvt Ltd. Ghale carded six birdies on the second, fifth, seventh, 10th, 12th and 16th holes and also bagged the most birdies award.
Chandika Bhandari came second on count back after he was tied on 37 points with Ang Norbu Sherpa. Bhandari scored 17 and 20 points on the two halves, while Sherpa earned 20 and 17. Sherpa received second runner-up trophy. Ghale, who also topped the list in gross section with 37 points, chose the nett category title under the one-player-one-major prize rule. Tashi Dong claimed the gross section award with 30 points.
Bhairaja Pandey won the senior section trophy with 35 points, while Maj Gen (retd) Mahesh Bikram Karki came second with 31 points. Rekha Ghimire lifted the women’s category trophy with 29 points, whereas Aarti Rana won the closest-to-the-pin award and Capt Norbu Sherpa claimed the longest drive award.
A total of 33 golfers took part in the tournament. Chairman of Invest Nepal Pvt Ltd TG Shrestha, Managing Director Bhairaja Pandey, President of Gokarna Golf Club Suhrid Ghimire and President of China India Business, Investment and Incubation Centre (CHIBIIC) Ajay Singh handed over prizes to the winners of the tournament.
