Ghale wins SIRC Cup

Kathmandu, November 4:

Tashi Ghale won the fourth SIRC Charity Golf Tournament here at the par 72, Le Meridien Gokarna Forest Golf Resort and Spa today.

Tashi birdied Hole Nos 3, 7 and 11 and dropped a shot on hole 1 and 12 to accumulate a total of one-under 39 stableford points. The skipper of the Asian Games squad for golf was confident with his swing and made few mistakes.

Tsultrim Lama was one shot behind Ghale for the second spot. Playing with 7 handicap, Lama made birdies on Hole Nos 2, 12 and 13 but dropped shots on 1, 6, 8, 10, 11, 14, 15 and 17.

Raj Pradhan captured the best gross award scoring one-over par (35 gross points) including 5 birdies. Eu Hazur Thapa won the ladies category title with 32 stableford points and Puspa Rai came second with 29. Tashi Tsering, Tashi Ghale and RM Sherchan got the closest to the pin, longest drive and the sportsmanship awards respectively.

Directors of SIRC (Spinal Injury Rehabilitation Centre), Prachanda Bahadur Shrestha, Tashi Jangbu Sherpa and Dr Anil Shrestha gave away prizes to the winners of the tournament. Esha Thapa, director of the SIRC, thanked all the sponsors of the tournament, which was organised for the benefit of the spinally injured patients of Nepal.
