Sagarmatha Cement, Turkish Airlines join hands with NSJF

Kathmandu, June 20

Turkish Airlines Nepal and Ghorahi Cement Industry Pvt Ltd today joined hands with Nepal Sports Journalists Forum for the Pulsar Sports Award slated for July 2 at Nepal Academy.

Turkish Airlines Nepal General Manager Abdullah Tuncer Kececi, Ghorahi Cement Industry Director Aditya Sanghai and NSJF President Durga Nath Subedi signed the memorandum of understanding amidst a programme today.

As per the agreement, Ghorahi Cement Industry will provide the NSJF with Rs 500,000, while Turkish Airlines Nepal will sponsor round trip ticket to any destination each to the winners of the male and female categories. Turkish Airlines will also provide 10 per cent discount to NSJF members and national-level athletes.

Turkish Airlines Nepal will be the Airline Partner, while Sagarmatha Cement of Ghorahi Cement Industry Pvt Ltd will be the co-sponsor of the Award organised by NSJF in association with Action Sports and powered by GoldStar. Ghorahi Cemeng Director Sanghai said his company was proud to be a part of the prestigious award for the second year in a row. “It’s not a matter of how long we contribute, it is a matter of how much we contribute,” said Sanghai. “I believe our association with NSJF in the award programme will be beneficial to the athletes of the country.”

Turkish Airlines Nepal GM Kececi thanked the NSJF for accepting his company as the partner of the award. “Nepali athletes needed to be encouraged so that they can go abroad and shine,” said Kececi. “We have been associated with various sports events and activities and the association with NSJF for the Sports Award is the continuation of our efforts to lift Nepali sports,” he added.

NSJF President Subedi thanked both the partners and said that the award would be better with the help of corporate sector. The 16th edition of the Award features 10 categories and the winners of male, female, coach and people’s choice will receive Pulsar NS160 motorcycle each. The youth, para-athlete, special, lifetime achievement, team of the year and Asian journalist winners will get Rs 50,000 apiece.
