Giri, Tamang triumph

KATHMANDU: Aryan Giri and Saloni Tamang win the U-14 singles titles of the first IME-JTI Grand Junior Open Lawn Tennis Tournament here at the Mandikhatar Tennis Club on Saturday.

Giri defeated Chirag Timalsina 6-0, 6-0 in the boys’ singles final, while Tamang registered a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Rayana Shah in girls’ section championship match. Other winners of the tournament included Nuben Limbu and Shivali Gurung (U-8), Nishad Joshi and Samriddhi Maharjan (U-9), Ayushman Hajur Ghale and Sunira Thapa (U-10), and Aarav Samrat Hada and Aaja Regmi (U-12).

A total of 93 players — 53 in boys and 40 in girls sections — took part in the tournament organised by IME Foundation. Nepal Tennis Association General Secretary Manohar Das Mool and IME Group Managing Director Hemraj Dhakal handed over the prizes to the winners. — HNS
