BIRTAMOD: TAC’s Gita Thapa Magar and her younger sister Bimala Thapa Magar, who represents Mid-western Region, advanced to the women’s 51kg weight category semi-finals of the 27th Men’s and eight Women’s Open Boxing Tournament under the NSC Championship here on Sunday. TAC’s Gita Thapa Magar saw off Ashmita Duwal of Bhaktapur and Mid-west’s Bimala Thapa Magar outplayed Harina Ayer of Kailali.

In the women’s 46-48kg, TAC’s Lalita Maharjan, Nepal Police Club’s Diwana Sherma, Bhaktapur’s Sarmila Lama and Nepal APF Club’s Nangja Budha Magar took berths in the last four.

In the men’s 56kg event, APF’s Puran Rai, Jhapa’s Sandesh Rai, Banke’s Nabin Gharti, Kaski’s Dinesh Baniya, Bhaktapur’s Prakash Kumar Bista, Dang’s Prem Chaudhary, Surkhet’s PrakashTarung and TAC’s Bimal Rokka entered the quarter-finals.

Likewise, Prakash Limbu of Jhapa, Prakash Bhattarai of Tikapur, Abishek Shahi Thakuri of BTFC, Sajan Giri of Jumla, Jenish Rai of Ultimate Club, Dinesh Shrestha of NPC, Yogendra Budha Magar of Alfa, Ek Bahadur Ghale of TAC and Sabin Gurung of Kaski secured their places in the quarter-finals of 60kg event.

In the 69kg section, Sandesh Limbu of Sunsari and Bishal Shrestha of NPC entered the quarters.
