Gitamata enter final

Gitamata High School entered the Group E final of the selection tournament for the Coca Cola

Inter-school National Football Tournament here today.

Children Liberty English Boarding School and Bright Horizon Children Home made it to the Group F semi-finals, while Peace Nepal advanced to the Group G quarter-finals.

In the day’s semi-final, Gitamata outplayed Student Academy 5-0. Ajay Kapali scored twice in the 45th and 55th minutes after Rakesh Thapa and Ramesh Podar had put the team 2-0 up in the first 16 minutes. Pasang Lama completed the rout when he found the nets in the 60th minute.

In Group F, Manish Rijal and Ashok Tamang netted two goals each and Buddha Lama scored one as Children Liberty defeated Midland 5-0. Bright Horizon beat Bijay Smarak 3-1 on goals from Nima Sherpa, Pushkar Lama and an own goal from Rajan Magar. Jeevan Subba scored the consolation goal for Bijay Smarak.

In a Group G match, Peace Nepal defeated Everest Boarding School 4-3 on penalties. The match was decided in tie-breaker after both the teams failed to score in the 70 minutes of

regulation time.
