Golden Gate, Dharan advance

KATHMANDU: White House defeated Golden Gate 39-31 to enter the quarter-finals of the third Under 19 White House Cup National Basketball Tournament.

In the girls’ section, White House took a 13-6 lead in the first quarter but Golden Gate reduced the deficit leading 13-10 in the second. White House then added another nine in the third conceding only six. The hosts won after the final quarter saw both the teams scoring six points. Sami Tamang of White House top scored with 11 points.

In the boys’ section, Golden Gate, Dharan and Gyanodaya reached the last 16. Golden Gate defeated Future Breeds 42-14 riding on Danish Thapaliya’s 15 points. Golden Gate scored 12 in the first quarter conceding only two points while they added 15 in the second allowing the opponents only two. Golden Gate added 10 in the third quarter conceding just two points. Future Breeds scored eight points to that of four from Golden Gate in the last quarter.

In the other match, Dharan beat Chitwan 58-14. Dharan took a 28-4 lead in the first half and scored 11 and 19 points in the last two quarters, while Chitwan managed just two and eight during the same period.

Also, Gyanodaya defeated Little Angels’ 54-36. Gyanodaya dominated the first three quarters — 12-9, 16-6, 18-10 — before LA finished the third with a 11-8 lead. Santosh Thapa netted 19 points for Little Angels’.
