Golden Gate, RIBS in final
Kathmandu, September 26:
Golden Gate Club and RIBS in men’s along with Rato Bangala and Prime Sports Club in the women’s section entered the final of the Samsung National Basketball Championship today.
Golden Gate exhibited a strong scoring ability to beat Public Youth Campus (PYC) 65-49 in the semi-final. Golden Gate maintained their lead from the first quarter and won the match with ease. Bipen Maharjan top-scored with 20 points for Golden Gate.
In another semi-final, RIBS defeated The Times Club 49-36 riding on a 14-point from Robin Khatri.
In the women’s semi-final, Kriti Rajbhandari guided Rato Bangala to a 41-31 win over Bishal Nagar Youth Club (BYC). Trailing by a point (8-9) in the first quarter, Rato Bangala scored 14 and 12 while restricting BYC to seven and eight points in the next two quarters. Both the teams managed seven points each in the final quarter.
In the other women’s match, Prime Sports Club eased past RIBS 45-29. Laxmi Maharjan netted 18 points for Prime Sports.
