Gurung, Shrestha in final

Devendra Gurung of Peregerine Adventures and Ummeed Shrestha of Bank of Kathmandu entered the final of the Lowenbrau third Corporate Snooker Championship, which has been organised jointly by Annapurna Post and Hotel Shangri-La, here on Wednesday.

In the best-of-seven semi-finals, Gurung defeated Binay Kumar Regmi of Nabil Bank Limited 4-1, while Shrestha came from behind before registering a 4-2 victory over Prabesh Hirachan on EES Nepal. The final is slated for Thursday.

Gurung won the first three frames, 58-14, 69-26, 63-27, easily, but lost the fourth one 36-46. Gurung won the fifth frame 52-46 to win the match and earn the berth in the championship match.

Shrestha, meanwhile, had a tougher opponent. He lost the first frame 51-54, before winning the next three frames 80-67, 45-43, 63-56 to take a 3-1 lead. Hirachan reduced the margin to 3-2 with a thumping 102-30 win in the sixth frame. The final frame was an one-sided affair as Shrestha claimed a 66-22 victory.
