Gyanodaya win Inter-school trophy

Chiz Gurung scored the only goal as Gyanodaya Bal Batika School defeated Little Angels’ School 1-0 in the final of the Campion Inter-school Football Tournament here at All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) ground, today. Gurung’s goal came in the 27th minute when he fired in an open net taking advantage of the Little Angels’ defensive blunder. Gyanodaya’s Madhav Chaulagain, who was the top-scorer of the tournament with eight goals to his credit, muffed up two easy scoring opportunities. Chaulagain ended up with a wide shot in the 49th minute from close range, and muffed up another chance five minutes later. In the 80th minute, Prajjwal Adhikari had a chance to level the scores. His attempt rebounded into play after hitting Gyanodaya goalkeeper Puskal Gurung, and Adhikari ended up with a wide shot on the rebound. Little Angels’ School skipper Prashant Bhandari was adjudged the best player of the tournament. ANFA president Ganesh Thapa gave away prizes to the winners of the ten-day tournament, which was organised by Campion Associates to mark their 10th anniversary.
