KATHMANDU: Hosts Valley Public ‘A’ and Kathmandu Xavier School claimed the titles of the fourth Valley Public Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Saturday. In the senior girls’ final, Valley Public eased past Prithvi 35-7. Sujata Rai, who was also adjudged the Most Valuable Player (MVP), netted 12 points for the winners. In the boys section, Kathmandu Xavier registered a 50-48 win over Valley Public ‘A’. Asim Shrestha scored the match-winning 20 points for Kathmandu Xavier. Biraj Rana of Valley Public ‘A’ was declared the MVP. Parina Waiwa and Rahul Maskey, both from the host teams, won the highest scorers’ awards. Likewise, Sakuntala Dhimal from Prithvi and Krishna Subedi from Kathmandu Xavier bagged the best three-pointers awards. Daffodil girls and Gyan Niketan boys, the defending champions, finished third.
