Kathmandu, January 7

All Nepal Table Tennis Association and Call Mobility today signed the sponsorship deal for the 39th Huawei National Table Tennis Tournament to be played under the NSC Championship at the Lainchaur covered hall from January 10-13.

ANTTA President Chaturananda Rajvaidya, Call Mobility’s Executive Director Pulkit Bhimsariya and Huawei Technologies Nepal Co Pvt Ltd’s Director Joyas Zhu signed the Memorandum of Understanding amidst a programme today. As per the agreement, Call Mobility —  the authorised distributor of Huawei mobile in Nepal — will provide the ANTTA with Rs 500,000 to organise the tournament, while Huawei will be the main sponsor of the event.

“We are also working out on other projects with the association for further cooperation. We are sponsoring the event as we the game of table tennis,” added Bhimsariya, a former table tennis player.

ANTTA President Rajvaidya informed that around 300 players from 42 teams will compete in the event which will feature men’s and women’s singles, doubles, mixed doubles and team events.

He said that National Sports Council had allocated one million rupees for the tournament which will be conducted with the budget of Rs 1.5 million. Rajvaidya said players from out of the valley will be provided with accommodation and daily allowances.

Tournament’s Technical Director and ANTTA General Secretary Shankar Gautam said that top 16 players in both categories will be recommended for the national team.
