Khwaja, Bista hold meeting
Kathmandu, January 29
International Cricket Council Deputy Chairman Imran Khwaja, who sat with Nepal Advisory Group in a five-hour meeting on Sunday, met with National Sports Council Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista today.
According to NSC Press Advisor Rohit Dahal, the duo talked about the issues that were discussed in the meeting with the members of Advisory Group. The ICC has asked the elected committee of Cricket Association of Nepal to amend the statute and pave way for lifting the suspension of CAN membership.
“NSC Member Secretary Bista assured Khwaja of extending support to Advisory Group in every possible way to sort out the problem,” said Dahal. Dahal also informed that Khwaja was positive about lifting the suspension of CAN as soon as the statute was approved.
On Sunday, the issues related to lifting CAN membership suspension along with reaching an agreement on the statute were discussed. Similarly, the meeting also agreed that all the 17 members of the elected committee would take part in the general assembly as volunteers and would not contest in the elections. The meeting reached an agreement of forming a five-member Monitory Group with three representatives from ICC and one each from CAN and NSC.
Meanwhile, CAN General Secretary Ashok Nath Pyakurel said his team would go ahead after receiving the draft from the ICC. “We will discuss about further steps once we get draft of the statute from the ICC,” said Pyakurel.
