India thrashed Maldives 152-17 riding on Prince Pal Singh’s 26 points. India took the first quarter 26-7 before netting 41 points conceding just two in the second period. India extended the lead taking the third quarter 49-2 and claimed the final 36-6.

Bishwas of Bangladesh top scored in the match with 31 points. Bangladesh won the first quarter 42-11 and never looked back. They won the remaining three periods 24-7, 33-11 and 18-14.

A total of five teams — Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Maldives and Bhutan — are competing in the competition being played under round robin league format with top team earning berth in the FIBA Asia Championship. The formal opening ceremony of the tournament will be held on Wednesday followed by Nepal’s first match against Bhutan. India will take on Bangladesh in the first match of the day.
