Inter-college futsal from Nov 22
Kathmandu, November 10
Alfa Beta Institute Pvt Ltd is organising the first Alfa Beta Inter-college Futsal Tournament from November 22-24 at the Samakhushi Futsal.
Around 16 to 20 teams from 10+2 and A-Level colleges will take part in the tournament, informed Alfa Beta’s President Yuvraj Sharma at a press meet today. “We are organising the tournament with the aim of supporting in the development of futsal. We also want to contribute in football
and cricket in coming days,” said Sharma.
Tournament coordinator and former national football team skipper Hari Khadka informed that the tournament will be played under league-cum-knockout format. The winners and runners-up of the tournament will get Rs 100,000 and Rs 60,000 respectively, while team finishing third will get Rs 40,000. Similarly, man-of-the-match after round of eight will get Rs 1,000, while the tournament’s best player and best goalkeeper will take home Rs 10,000 each.
Khadka hoped the tournament would strengthen Nepal’s futsal team. “We recently competed in the AFC Futsal Championship Qualifiers for the first time and we need to produce players. And tournaments like this will be helpful in identifying talented players. Private sectors need to be involved in such events,” said Khadka.
Record holder taekwondo player Deepak Bista, who is also the coordinator of the event, thanked the sponsors for their generous support in sports. “I’ve been associated with Alfa Beta for more than a decade and I’m happy that they have come forward for the cause of sports,” he said.
