India shift ODI venue

NEW DELHI: India’s cricket chiefs on Monday changed the venue of the second one-day international (ODI) against Sri Lanka due to political tension in Visakhapatnam. The match will now take place on Friday in Nagpur, which had hosted a Twenty20 international between India and Sri Lanka last week. Visakhapatnam has been gripped by demonstrations over the federal government’s decision to create a separate state of Telangana. The match on Friday at the Vidarbha Cricket Association ground in Nagpur will be a day-night game, the Indian cricket board said in a statement. Sri Lanka begin a five-match one-day series against India on Tuesday in Rajkot.

Twelve hurt in clash

GIJON: Up to 12 people were injured on Sunday in clashes between rival fans of Spanish Primera Liga sides Sporting Gijon and Sevilla, local media reported. The fight broke out near the El Molinon stadium at Gijon in northern Spain, Radio Marca reported. The match between the two clubs, which kicked was the final game in the weekend programme of Spanish league games.
