Jankovic advances

GUANGZHOU: Serbia's Jelena Jankovic came from three points down in the 11th game of the deciding set to break Yanina Wickmayer's serve and advanced to the Guangzhou Open final with a 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 win Friday.

Jankovic also fought off a match point in the 10th game of the final set to help end an eight-match winning streak by Wickmayer. The Belgian player won her first WTA title in more than five years at the Japan Open last week, and won three more matches in Guangzhou this week. Denisa Allertova of Czech Republic, who upset top-seeded Simona Halep of Romania in straight sets in the quarter-finals, continued her strong form with a 7-5, 6-2 win over No 3 Sara Errani of Italy in the second semi-final.

The 22-year-old Allertova broke Errani's serve in the deciding game of the opening set, helped by a double-fault by Errani, her third of the first set. Allertova then broke Errani again in the second game of the second set to take a 2-0 lead, saved a break point to lead 3-0 and closed out the match in 1 hour, 24 minutes.

Saturday's match against Jankovic will be Allertova's first career WTA final.
