KAKARVITTA: Jhapa-XI advanced to the semi-finals of the Mechi Netralaya Kakarvitta Gold Cup on Saturday. Jhapa defeated Himalayan Sherpa Club 5-3 in tie-breaker after a 2-2 draw in regulation period.

Karna Limbu, Ranjit Dhimal, Buddha Chemjong, Rabi Thapa and Yogesh Gurung converted their penalties, while Heman Gurung, Rupesh KC and Bhupal Gurung scored from the spot for Himalayan Sherpa.

Earlier, Pujan Uparkoti put Jhapa ahead in the 37th minute.

Heman Gurung Himalayan Sherpa levelled the scores in the 62nd minute and Rabi Thapa of Jhapa netted an own goal two minutes later. Yogesh Gurung then scored the equaliser to push the match to tie-breaker.

Heman Gurung of Himalayan Sherpa was named the man-of-the-match. On Sunday, Kakarvitta Training Centre will play against Blue Army of Shillong, India.
