JHAPA: Jhapa-XI thrashed Sangli District Football Association 9-0 in the opening match of the International Invitational Gold Cup here at the Domalal Stadium in Birtamod on Thursday. Karna Limbu scored five goals alone that also earned him the man-of-the-match award and Rs 5,000. Sumin Mainali, Yogesh Gurung, Sanjog Rai and Narendra Limbu netted one each for the hosts. Jhapa opened up a huge 8-0 lead in the first half and added one more in the latter half. A total of 10 teams, including two from India, are taking part in the tournament. On Friday, Tribhuvan Army Club will take on Gorkha Boys of India.
