Judokas win golds

KATHMANDU: Nepali judokas won four gold medals and a bronze in the BKSP Cup Judo Tournament in Bangladesh on Tuesday.

The 12th South Asian Games silver medallist Manita Shrestha Pradhan defeated Bangladesh’s Arifa Aktar in the women’s below-57kg final to win the gold medal.

Likewise, Roshan Bahadur  Singh claimed men’s 60kg weight category gold beating India’s Arbindo Ghosh, while 12th SA Games bronze medal winner Indra Bahadur Shrestha defeated Bangladesh’s Kayas Ahmed in the men’s 66kg section final.

All three judokas are from Prisoners’ Assistance Mission, while Shrestha Pradhan plays domestic tournaments from Tribhuvan Army Club. Meanwhile, Suman Shrestha won the gold medal in men’s below-73kg section beating Akib HaiderImon of Bangladesh.

Likewise, Nirmala Gharti claimed bronze in women’s below-63kg weight category. Out of the 11 Nepali players participating in the tournament, six judokas are scheduled to compete on Wednesday.
