Kabaddi players selected
KATHMANDU: Nepal Kabaddi Association selected 18 men and as many women players for the second round training for the 11th South Asian Games, slated for Dhaka next year.
Out of the 18 in men’s section, eight — Dambar Baduwal, Jay Bohara, Mahesh Bohara, Man Bahadur Ranabhat, Bhuwan Khadka, Bijay Chand, Hem Bahadur Basnet and Yuvraj Shrestha — are from Tribhuvan Army Club. Sanjay Shrestha, Kebal Raut, Munna Patel, Nawal Raut, Shyam Krishna Basukala and Amar Deep Shrestha are from Central Region, while Naresh Chaudhary and Chet Narayan Chaudhary belong to Western Region. Devesh Jha from Eastern Region and Dharme Sunar from Far-Western Region are also in the team.
In women’s section, Saraswoti Thapa, Sangita Gautam, Netra Kumari Thapa, Nirmala Bista, Shanti Malla, Nitu Gurung and Rukmani Chand are from Nepal Police Club, while Kosh Maya Basnet, Minu Gurung, Sushila Magar, Keli Gurung, Kalpana Shrestha and Rajani Gurung were picked from Tribhuvan Army Club. Also, Ramita Thapa Magar (Eastern Region), Sanjana Tamang and Ambika Mandal (Central), Ranjita Poudel (Western) and Yasoda Bista (Far-western Region) have found their names in the list.
The players were selected by the Selection Committee headed by Bishnu Prasad Lohani and the final 12-member squads in both the section will be held after the second round training that will begin on November 15.
