Karki, Majhi make cut in Bangladesh

Nepali golfers Tanka Bahadur Karki and Shiva Kumar Majhi made the cut after the second round of the Runner Group 31st Bangladesh Amateur Championship at the Kurmitola Golf Club in Dhaka today.

Karki was 30th with the total score of 14-over 158 after he posted second straight 79, while Majhi  who played six-over 78 to add to his overnight score of 11-over 83  was six spots down at 161.

Majhi was scheduled to take part in Faldo Series Asia Grand Final in China but could not go to Shenzen after he was not granted Hong Kong visa.

Another Nepali player Arun Tamang failed to make the cut after he posted 16-over 88 to add to his first-round score of 87. The cut was applied at 31-over 175.

Md Shah Alam carded three-under 69 to remain at the top of the leaderboard with the total score of four-under 140, while Md Ripon was one stroke behind at second and Md Rasel third at one-over 145.

In team section, Nepal finished seventh out of 10 teams. Karki and Tamang posted a total of 45-over 333.

Bangladesh ‘A’ won the trophy with the total score of two-under 286, while India came second at 294 and Bangladesh ‘B’ third at 296.
