Karnali make it two in a row, Province6 triumph

Province7 and Karnali recorded victories in the Manamohan Memorial  Inter-Province U-16 National Cricket Tournament here at the TU Stadium  today.

Province7 thrashed Province4 by 105 runs to win their second match in  a row in Group A, while Karnali beat Province3 by seven wickets to  make winning start in Group B.

In the day’s second match, Province7  were bowled for 186 runs in 25.4 overs after opting to bat first. In  reply, Province4 managed 81-7 in their allotted 30 overs. Province7  posted the fighting total after player-of-the-match Binod Khatri  scored a quick fire 69-ball 80 cracking 13 boundaries, while Narendra  Sawad made 54-ball 46 that included four boundaries and a six.

At one stage, Province7 were reduced to 28-8. But the pair of Khatri and Sawad added 152 runs for the ninth  wicket to anchor the innings. Krishna Poudel took 4-40 and Mekh Bahadur Sen claimed 3-24 for Province4. Sachin Adhikari claimed one wicket.

In  reply, Province4 batters struggled to build partnerships against disciplined bowling attack from Province7. Mekh  Bahadur Sen top scored with 16 off 23 balls that included two  boundaries, while Roshan Kant Neupane faced 41 balls to score 14 with  the help of two fours. Similarly, Sohail Kumar scored 10 off 86 balls  that included a four.

Narendra Sawad claimed 2-6 and  Rahul Bhandari took 2-8 for Province7. Gajendra Singh Bohara, Manoj Lothyal and  Suwash Ayer claimed one wicket each.

In another match which was reduced  to 16-over-a-side, Province3 scored 113-7 after they elected to bat and Karnali raced to 114-3 with a ball to spare. Karnali won the match after skipper Prakash Jaisi smashed  29-ball 51 with the help of six boundaries that also earned him the man-of-the-match award. Dinesh  Pun remained unbeaten on 45 off 48 balls that included five boundaries.

Sushant Karki, Deepak Bohara and Gaurav Katwal claimed one wicket each for Province3.

Earlier,  Province3 reached the fighting total riding on Priyanshu Shrestha’s  unbeaten 37-ball 38  that included three fours and a six, while Sushant  Karki contributed 15-ball 23 hitting three boundaries and a six. Suraj  Budhathoki claimed two wickets, while Parnam Bahadell, Prakash Jaisi,  Sandeep Jungh Shahi and Yuvraj KC took one wicket each for Karnali.
