Kathmandu, October 27

The All Nepal Lawn Tennis Association is organising the Kesha Group ANLTA U-14 Ranking Tournament at the Satdobato Tennis Complex courts.

The Circuit-I tournament is slated for October 30 to November 3, while the Circuit-II event will be held from November 6-10. Players from Nepal, India, Hong Kong and the United States of America will take part in the tournament, informed the organisers at a press meet today.

The hosts are fielding nine boys and 13 girls in the tournament, while India have registered eight players each in both the categories. Likewise, one player each from Hong Kong and the USA are taking part in the boys’ section, said Tournament Director Ajay Bista. The tournament features singles and doubles events in both categories.

“This is the ranking tournament and any one can take part in the event to improve their standing in the world,” said ANLTA President Jyoti Rana. Kesha Group is the main sponsor of the tournament and the main sponsor has provided the ANLTA with Rs 500,000. “Our well wishers and the committee members have also supported us with banners and we are also hoping to get financial assistance from National Sports Council,” said Bista. The NSC had allotted Rs 400,000 in the previous tournament.

This is the fifth international event organised by the ANLTA in two years. The ANLTA began with the Circuit-I and Circuit-II events of the U-14 Ranking Tournament in September last year, and hosted the ITF U-18 Grade-V Tennis Tournament in February, ITF/ATF U-12 Team Championship in May and NIC Asia ITF Nepal Seniors Championship in September this year.
